Seven megapixel models seem to become the trend these days, as almost all manufacturers have recently launched one or more seven megapixel models. Until now weve seen a steady growth to 8 and 10 megapixel models and maybe the reality is sinking in, that is not what the consumers are waiting for. Or is it just the image sensor with the best price performance currently available on the market.

Apparently Sigma is getting ready for the launch of their special digital SLR camera with its Foveon image sensor. Sigma has recently published two White Papers on the merits on this unique image sensor. Its obvious that Sigma is working hard to keep the interest in the SD14 alive after various delays, and we may well assume that the Sigma SD14 will be presented in its full glory on the PMA show, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, March 8 -11, 2007.
February 14, 2007 - 09.00 GMTA long time ago, when I lived in Indonesia, electric fans proudly showed the well known black & white GE logo with its stylish, curly letters. Since then, GE has been synonym for "electric fans" to me. To my great surprise, this same GE today announces their entry in the digital camera market. The introductory campaign uses the slogan "GE is changing the picture", and is illustrated by two fish bowls. The question however is whether it symbolizes that GE will be joining a very crowded market or is setting itself apart from the pack.

February 13, 2007 - 08.45 GMTAkvis releases version 3.0 of their Sketch plug-in for Photo editing & organizing software such as Paint Shop Pro, Adobe PhotoShop Elements and others. Although the version numbering scheme (from version 2.1 to 3.0) seems to imply a major product overhaul, the updates are relatively minor. Nevertheless, it is now possible to save your favorite settings for subsequent use, and the installation method on Macintosh is simplified. Furthermore, some bugs have been fixed and the software is now compatible with Windows Vista.
